Hello!
My name is Diego López Raya and I am a Psychotherapist and a Psychologist, bilingual (Spanish and English), and a specialist in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). My journey in the field of mental health began many years ago when I studied Psychology at the University of Granada. Afterwards, I decided to live in London where I began working as a psychologist with a psychodynamic approach in various therapeutic communities, for patients with severe conditions, such as bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and schizophrenia.
I completed a Master's degree in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy at London Metropolitan University and became accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I then began working in several prestigious hospitals, such as Homerton University NHS Trust.
Later, I pursued higher studies in Interpersonal Therapy at the Anna Freud Centre in London, where I became accredited as a psychotherapist and interpersonal supervisor for the British College of Interpersonal Therapists.
I have over fifteen years of experience in the mental health field. I feel very comfortable exploring topics such as LGTBQ+ phobia and other forms of oppression/stigma towards minorities and people who do not identify with traditional and normative labels of gender, sex, and sexual orientation. In my approach, I never forget the importance of a humanistic perspective of empathy, respect, and unconditional acceptance.
My objective is to offer a safe, warm, open, and transparent space where we can begin to explore and understand what is causing you pain and preventing you from living the life you desire. Starting therapy is not always easy, and I understand the anxiety and ambivalence it can generate. Therapeutic processes can be difficult, and my intention is to be there by your side.
